Now, the world is gearing up for the COVID-19 vaccine, and the supply chains are also starting to work their part. The supply chains have been facing immense pressure to store these vaccines properly and ensure their proper distribution. With the latest technology, supply chains in the country are preparing to meet the impending demand for vaccine transport. In a similar vein, AWL is also working round the clock to make sure that no stone is left unturned when it comes to fulfilling such a vital responsibility towards mankind.
In an interview with Mr. Rahul Mehra, the CEO and Founder of AWL, he elaborated quite a bit on what steps AWL is taking to make sure that the quality of the vaccines and the entire process is not compromised in any way. “It is a commonly known fact that pharmaceuticals (including vaccines) need an optimal temperature for storage and if anything, even by an inch, goes awry, it can jeopardize the health of the citizens. That is why we have to be more than careful to ensure that we have everything at our disposal to meet the impending needs.”
When questioned on how prepared is AWL to meet the need of the hour in terms of Covid-19 vaccine supply chain and overall distribution, Mr. Mehra positively added, “With the most advanced technology and infrastructure available with us, this problem can be tackled with ease. Firstly, our IoT (Internet of Things) enabled smart warehouses will ensure the easy flow of the supply chain with proper inventory control management.” Furthermore, he adds, “Even if vaccine storage is a Herculean task as it needs an appropriate temperature, which ranges from -60° C to -90° C, depends on the vaccines of different companies. They also require optimal conditions so that their potency remains intact. For this, our innovative warehouses have been painstakingly designed to provide multi-temperature-controlled facilities for highly sensitive products like vaccines and pharmaceuticals. To maintain the ultra-cold conditions is a daunting task, and we at AWL, are prepared with the storage and transportation facilities of COVID-19 vaccines while maintaining the potency of the vaccine.”
Apart from emphasizing the uses of the smart warehouses and the latest technology, Mr. Rahul Mehra also mentioned something about the role of the ‘cold chains’ in this connection, “We have been faced with this question on a lot of occasions that how are we going to sustain the vaccine quality without the natural cold climate that is a must for it. And for this, smart technology is the answer.” With this, he touched upon the significance of cold chains and added, “The cold chain plays a vital role in the life-cycle of health products and renewable energy equipment which are highly sensitive to different environmental conditions. Obviously, such products need special packaging, handling, and distribution services. But temperature-controlled logistics is something that AWL specializes in. We provide high-tech and advanced features to facilitate this by means of refrigerated vehicles which, in turn, can preserve the integrity and quality of these products at every touchpoint, right from the manufacturing unit to its final destination.”
